Vacation 2001: Minnesota/Wisconsin
(It was more fun than it sounds!)

For 2001, we decided to stay close and keep it cheap. We spent one week bumming-around SE Minnesota and driving down to Chicago. A few weekends later, we spent the weekend in the cities to "do" the Mall of America and Camp Snoopy. OK. So if you've read this far, why not torture yourself more and preview the photos...

Rudy navigating -- Oh no, we'll be in Flagstaff before we get back home!

The first day of my vacation, Thursday, I took the boys about an hour outside of Rochester and we did a half-day canoe trip on the Zumbro river. Rudy held his own navigating in the rear of the canoe.

Oh captain, my captain!

Luke, on the other hand, took the lead position and did little more than ask when the next snack break was.

Weeeeee

Friday, we stopped at the Wisconsin Dells for the day. Here they boys are whooping-it up on the roller coaster. I think Rudy said it best when he said he had better rides on the Wal-Mart shopping carts. OK, he didn't really say that, I did. But it's something he would say if he didn't think we would leave early if he looked ungrateful!       :-)

If you don't like the way I'm driving, stay off the sidewalk!

Rudy and Luke liked the go-carts!

Something came up!

I couldn't believe they both liked this ride enough to do it three times. I was sick just watching them! Here, Rudy is faking that he would like to join us for lunch, "but something came up!"

Four!

When we got back to town, we decided to hit the links!

Water water everywhere, but that guy's been in the bathroom for more than twenty minutes!

In Bloomington, we stayed at a hotel and swam most of the time. Here is my artistic photo.

A t-shirt for Rudy, a hat for Luke, a chair for Heidi

Heidi liked the chair in the hotel room, so Luke and I thought it would make a nice souvenir for her.
